Ето едно много интересно мнение от Хану Уронен за 300 UP, 6.5 и др и за предложеното сваляне на ПФ на 280.
Obviously one goal with the .300 Uronen Precision was achieved: it created lots of talk
I am not going into detail, but we could call it "300 BLK supersonic". Because I am responsible for that (and many others), I decided to write a few lines.
Indeed, every major rifle is very different to shoot compared to .223
When we compare 300 BLK and .223 match rifles, 300 recoil is softer but naturally rifle comes back with much stronger force. We have done lots of testing with different AR-15 calibers for other purpose, but it works for IPSC as well. Very common misbelief is, that major rifle would be much better choice on close distances 0-60 meters. According to our testing, this is not true. When distance is very close 0-10 meters, major rifle is indeed better, but when it comes to offhand shots to 50-60 meters minor is one step ahead.
Generally, for me and othe rexperienced rifle users we have been doing tests with, 300 BLK / UP is clearly slower to shoot compared to .223. When it still pays off to shoot major because you get more points from C and D... on some stages it does, on some it does not.
About Estonian match I won with .300 UP someone was referring, yes I won it, but also I would have done better with my .223 match rifle. I just got .300 UP set up 2 weeks before the match and made plenty of mistakes because I was not too familiar with the rifle.
Please remember, that rifles do not have their own will. Rifle always needs a shooter, who decides when it is time to pull the trigger
Even common misbelief that lowering major PF to 280 would be only for shooters with "deep pockets", it would actually do just the opposite.
Also what it would do, it would make more rifle types and calibers competitive.
Now when I load 320 PF major ammo for my .300 UP, I use Sako or Sierra 175gr HPBT bullet, one type of powder, primer and super strong Sako brass. No chance to use brass cut from .223, cheap bullets and/or powder. Without brass, this ammo costs appoximately 0.90 euros / 1 pc.
Same goes with 7,62x39.
If we lower PF to 280, it changes. Now I could use brass made from very cheap military 5.56 brass, cheap 123gr bullets, powder from almost any maker, cheapest primers and so on. Price for this ammo would be less than price for decent IPSC .223 factory ammo.
For 7,62x39 things change more: now you can use very cheap factory ammo and it makes major.
This was tested this during 2015 in one very popular rifle match, where I worked for the chrono stage. We tested every 7,62x39 and every one of them made lowered major PF 280.
During 2016 competition, we decided to do the same - but I did not see a single shooter with 7,62x39 rifle anymore.
About other calibers: 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC, 6.5 MPC, 7,62x40 WT etc etc
Years ago we built a few IPSC rifles in 6.5 Grendel, they were used now and then in matches... but then they basicly disappeared. Expense, hard to get brass which was very expensive, brass did not last very long etc. Conclusion: for popular major rifle, you need to use same magazines, bolts and other common parts with .223. If magazines are hard to find, not very reliable etc (like the case was for 6.5 Grendel) - it will never gain huge popularity.
This is why 300 XX calibers are better than 6.8 SPC, 6.5 Grendel etc.
Also there are so many government agencies setting up their own 300 BLK equipment, that it is here to stay.
Barrel is wearing part, every "top dog" will replace his/her rifle barrel at least in 2 years if they do any active practice. 300 xx barrels loaded to PF 280 last more shots compared to .223, so in the long run 300 xx would make shooting little cheaper equipment vise.
There is one new caliber / rifle set up coming that would be "King of the hill" for PF 320 and for those with deep pockets, but lets not talk about it yet
Твърди, че за 6.5 няма работещи пълнители и затова 300UP е по-добър избор и ще се наложи.
